Interestingly, they looked very similar to salmon and also had hooked snout (i wonder if they are semelparous...). The statue next to the Hobbiton is that backside of Gollum. The lizard looking thing is a tuatara (no pineal or "third eye" opening on this sucker because it is an adult. And the bird is a Kea, which serves the role of a marmot. It is an alpine parrot that destroys anything rubber.
